Haddon Robinson, PhD

Haddon Robinson, PhD, is the Harold John Ockenga Distinguished Professor of Preaching at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and was named one of the 12 most effective preachers in the English speaking world in a 1996 Baylor University poll. He has completed graduate studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, Southern Methodist University and University of Illinois. He received honorary degrees from Gordon College and McMaster Divinity College. From 1970-79 he was General Director of CMDA, where he also edited The Christian Medical Society Journal. A prolific writer, Dr. Robinson has published articles in many journals, writes regularly for the devotional booklet Our Daily Bread, has authored seven books and teaches on “Discover the Word,” a daily radio program broadcast around the world. Now retired, he serves as an editor for Preaching and Christianity Today. Dr. Robinson was president of the Evangelical Theological Society (1983) and currently serves on the board of Marketplace Network.

Robert D. Orr, MD, CM

Robert D. Orr, MD, CM, received his MD, CM degree from McGill University in 1966, did residency training in family medicine and practiced in Vermont for 18 years. He was named the Vermont Family Doctor of the Year in 1989. Since completing a fellowship in Clinical Ethics at the University of Chicago (1989-90), he has held professorships at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California, University of Vermont College of Medicine, Trinity International University in Illinois and the Graduate College of Union University in New York. He continues to teach in two other graduate programs. He has lectured widely and authored, co-authored or co-edited five books, 16 book chapters, and more than 150 articles on ethics, ethics consultation and end-of-life care. His most recent book is Medical Ethics and the Faith Factor (Eerdmans, 2009). He has been an active CMDA member for nearly 50 years and currently serves on the Board of Trustees.
