“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18, NIV).

He was doing well with his cancer, so we chatted about his life, “You know, I was just like those other fellows doing drugs and lying on the sidewalk outside the feeding center. One day when I didn’t do drugs, I went to the home of one of my church ladies and told her, ‘Do you know I do drugs?’ ‘You do drugs? You need to give it to Jesus. He’s still fixin’ things.’ And Jesus did, right there. I started praying and I felt this hand on my shoulder. I looked around and saw an image. Then I looked again, and it was gone. And my need for drugs was gone as well.”

Jesus is still fixin’ things, and the main thing He’s fixin’ is human hearts.

We go to Jesus with all kinds of things to fix: health, finances, broken relationships, sporting events, conflicts, etc. God listens, and God acts as He chooses—for His glory all swirled up in His love for us.

Most of all He fixes people, because people like you and me need fixing. “My heart needs a surgeon; my soul needs a friend,” as it says in Matt Maher’s song “Run to the Father.” And He mostly fixes people through His people, like this church lady who was willing to speak the truth into a broken man’s life.

Are we willing to do the same?

So many of us are “over-blessed” by God and are grateful for the peace, relationship and eternal life He has provided. We keep going to Him for more, and He keeps blessing us more. We blow up so big with blessings that we might even pop, with popping likely to be the only way some of us share those blessings with others.

My friend, Bob, shared this truth with our Bible study group last week, “God didn’t call us to be warehouses for His blessings. He called us to be distribution centers.” Bob lives that truth.

God has come into my life and blessed me by changing me and giving me life forever with Him. Am I distributing these blessings to those who need them just as much as I do? If not, why not? If not, perhaps He should just reach down and take me to heaven where things for me would be even more blessed.

Or, perhaps I’m still here because God is “still ‘fixin’ things” and has others to fix through me.

Dear God,
Please empty me and fill me with Your Spirit so that others may be changed by Your presence.
