Ken Carpenter

Ken Carpenter is an award-winning producer and director who has been recognized for a wide variety of film, video and television projects. His work includes projects with Amy Grant, Newsboys, dcTalk, Casting Crowns, Stephen Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Jeremy Camp and others. He’s created films for organizations including Focus on the Family, Tyndale Publishers, Compassion International, Big Idea, PAX TV, Joni & Friends and more. Ken is also the director of One Generation Away, a fast-paced film that travels the U.S. (and Europe) in search of a deeper understanding of the religious freedom clauses in the Constitution’s First Amendment. The film asks hard questions about the status of religious liberty in America today. The film was recently awarded Best Documentary at the 2015 Christian Worldview Film Festival and the 2015 ICVM Crown Awards. Colonel Kim Hawthorne, USAF (Ret)

Col. Kim Hawthorne became the sixth Director of Spring Canyon Conference Center in December 2013. A 1986 graduate of The United States Air Force Academy, he retired with almost 28 years of service as a command pilot who flew the T-37, EF-111, F-15E and T-53. He commanded at the squadron and group levels and first attended Spring Canyon as a cadet in 1982. He and his wife Kari Ann met and were married at Spring Canyon. They have three children who have all served on the Spring Canyon staff. Kim previously served 15 years on the Officer’s Christian Fellowship (OCF) Council, and together he and Kari Ann served 25 years on the Spring Canyon Advisory Committee, prior to Kim’s current job. The Hawthorne’s hope that Spring Canyon will be for you what it has been for their family all these years: a home away from home.
