Randall P. Owen, MD, MS, FACS,
Randall P. Owen is head and neck surgeon at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. He is originally from Ellensburg, Washington, earned a BA in science and humanities at Seattle Pacific University, and then went to medical school at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. He then completed a general surgery residency at Montefiore Hospital/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, followed by a head and neck oncologic surgery fellowship. He practiced at Montefiore for nine years then moved to Mt. Sinai more than four years ago. He is the past president of the NYC CMDA chapter and is currently the New York City area representative to the CMDA national House of Representatives. He has been on healthcare mission trips to Gabon, Romania, Kenya, Pakistan and the Philippines, most recently participating in a housing effort in Haiti after the earthquake.
Bruce Carl Steffes, MD, MBA, MA, FACS, FWACS, FCS(ECSA), FICS,
Bruce Carl Steffes has been a member of CMDA since 1973, is a member of the CMDA-CMDE Commission and has served as the Executive Director of the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) since 2006. As of August 2014, there are presently 57 residents and fellows in training at primary training sites in Gabon, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Niger, Kenya, Egypt, Tanzania and Malawi through PAACS. The ministry is experiencing a period of rapid expansion. He has authored three books on short-term missions, and he has served as a short-term medical missionary in dozens of countries for the last 17 years. Dr. Steffes is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the West African College of Surgeons, the College of Surgery of East, Central and Southern Africa and the International College of Surgeons. He has been recognized for his work with PAACS with the 2008 International Medicine Award (from the Institute for International Medicine) and induction to the Medical Missions Hall of Fame, located at the University of Toledo in Ohio.
