Christian Doctor’s Digest – February 2019
The February 2019 issue of Christian Doctor’s Digest...A look into hospitality as a way to evangelize within the home. Conservative Christians admit that they do not speak out on political or cultural issues because they do not know how to support their beliefs from a biblical basis. We'll look at how to defend the Gospel. And finally, the demands of cross-cultural ministry can be overwhelming and draining, leading to discouragement and burnout. Rick Allen, CEO, MedSend
Individual Interview Location: 02:38
Rick Allen is entering his tenth year as leader of MedSend. Formerly a high-tech business executive, Rick spent 25 years in the computer software industry. After surrendering his professional life to his Savior, Jesus Christ he became a pastor of a church plant in Stamford, CT in 2007 and joined MedSend in 2008. His role at MedSend provides a unique perspective on how God is using Christian caregivers to transform hearts, minds and cultures throughout the world.
Created in 1992, the MedSend ministry started as a CMDA initiative. At that time, it was recognized that educational debt was holding back a generation of healthcare professionals from serving on the mission field. MedSend has since spun off from CMDA, and it is now a separate organization. Over its 25 year history, MedSend has provided freedom for over 650 individuals to serve where God has called them. Today MedSend counts 55 missions-sending agencies as partners in this effort. These relationships allow MedSend a broad and deep perspective into global healthcare missions.
Rick is a dedicated husband to his wife of more than 35 years, and the proud father of four adult daughters and one granddaughter. Through his rich life experiences, he has developed a sense of humor and an unshakable faith grounded in brokenness – making him a compelling, informative and entertaining speaker.
